Top 5 Neighborhoods in Arlington, TX

Top 5 Neighborhoods in Arlington, TX
Which Arlington neighborhood best fits the way you want to live?
Based on current 2026 neighborhood information, overall desirability, amenities, lot sizes, housing character, location, and buyer appeal, these are the five I would highlight first.
- Viridian — resort-style amenities, community and active lifestyle.
- Interlochen — waterfront character, mature trees and unique homes.
- Fannin Farm — traditional suburban living and neighborhood amenities.
- Lake Arlington / West Arlington — larger lots, established homes and lake lifestyle.
- North Arlington / River Legacy Area — nature, mature neighborhoods and central DFW access.
These aren't simply the five most expensive areas. They're five different Arlington lifestyles, which I think makes this much more useful to a buyer.
1. Viridian
Best For: The Buyer Who Wants Amenities + Community + Lifestyle
If someone told me:
"Paul, I don't just want a house. I want a community where there's actually something to do."
Viridian would be one of the first places I'd show them.

Viridian is completely different from most established Arlington neighborhoods because it's a large master-planned lifestyle community.
The community's official amenity information lists 850 acres of open space and lakes plus a 150-acre wooded conservation area, along with five pools at the Lake Club, pickleball, tennis, volleyball, parks, trails, canoeing/kayaking, fishing and numerous other recreational amenities. An on-site lifestyle director also coordinates clubs, festivals and community events.
Designed for buyers who prioritize:
Amenities + outdoor recreation + neighborhood activities + lakes + trails + community interaction.
And Viridian has another unique option within it: Elements at Viridian, its 55+ active-living neighborhood. Elements has its own Magnolia Lifestyle Center with an infinity-edge pool, fitness center, pickleball, bocce, putting green and resident programming.
One important 2026 distinction: the broader Viridian community is primarily a resale market now, while the community says its remaining new-construction opportunities are exclusively within Elements at Viridian.

"The Arlington lifestyle community."
2. Interlochen
Best For: The Buyer Who Wants Character + Water + Mature Trees
Interlochen is almost the complete opposite of Viridian.
If someone tells me:
"I don't want a newer master-planned community. Give me mature trees, an established neighborhood and homes that don't all look alike."
Now I'm looking at Interlochen.

Interlochen is one of Arlington's most recognizable established neighborhoods because of its canal system, waterfront properties, mature trees and distinctive homes. The City of Arlington notes that developer Bob Findlay created Interlochen Estates around its sophisticated lake system.
It's also home to Arlington's famous annual Interlochen Christmas Lights tradition.
Unlike a newer development where homes may have similar architecture, Interlochen can give buyers much more individuality.
Designed for buyers who prioritize:
Character + mature landscaping + established homes + waterfront opportunities + larger yards + uniqueness.
My description:
"Classic Arlington with character."
3. Fannin Farm
Best For: The Traditional Suburban Buyer
Fannin Farm is where I'd go for someone who tells me:
"I want a nice neighborhood, good-sized home, parks, trails and amenities—but I don't need the full master-planned experience."
That's where Fannin Farm fits nicely.
A current 2026 Arlington neighborhood guide highlights Fannin Farm specifically for its spacious homes, neighborhood pools, playgrounds, walking trails and residential atmosphere.
This is more of the traditional suburban neighborhood experience many buyers picture when they think about moving to Texas.
You're not necessarily paying for an enormous amenity package.
You're buying into an established residential environment.
Designed for buyers who prioritize:
Traditional suburban living + neighborhood amenities + trails + established homes + Southwest Arlington location.
My description:
"The classic suburban Arlington lifestyle."
4. Lake Arlington / West Arlington
Best For: The Buyer Who Wants Space + Established Homes + Water Nearby
This is an area I think deserves more attention.
If someone tells me:
"Paul, I don't care about having 10 community amenities. I'd rather have a bigger lot, mature trees and an established home."
I'd start exploring West Arlington and the neighborhoods surrounding Lake Arlington.

Lake Arlington provides opportunities for boating, fishing and paddling, while nearby city parks provide shoreline access.
The surrounding residential areas can offer something that's becoming harder to reproduce in newer developments:
Space.
Depending on the specific neighborhood, you can find established homes, larger lots, mature landscaping and properties with significantly different architecture from one another.
Designed for buyers who prioritize:
Larger lots + mature trees + established neighborhoods + privacy + lake recreation.
My description:
"Space and established Arlington living."
5. North Arlington / River Legacy Area
Best For: The Nature Lover Who Still Wants Central DFW Access
This is where I'd take someone who says:
"I want trees, trails and outdoor recreation, but I also want to stay centrally located."
That's North Arlington around River Legacy.

River Legacy itself is a major differentiator. The City of Arlington describes the main park as a 1,031-acre forest floodplain park along the Trinity River, with opportunities for bicycling, jogging, nature study, bird watching and other recreation.
North Arlington also gives buyers relatively convenient access to I-30, the Entertainment District, DFW Airport corridors and other parts of the Metroplex.
Designed for buyers who prioritize:
Nature + trails + mature neighborhoods + outdoor recreation + central location.
My description:
"Nature meets central DFW."
The Arlington Buyer Cheat Sheet
Here's how I would simplify it when talking with a client:
"I want amenities and an active community." → Viridian
"I want character, mature trees and waterfront homes." → Interlochen
"I want a traditional suburban neighborhood." → Fannin Farm
"I want more space and established homes." → Lake Arlington / West Arlington
"I want trails, nature and central access." → North Arlington / River Legacy
And there's one more buyer we should talk about.
What If I Want Luxury and Acreage?
Then I'd expand the search beyond these five and start looking closely at some of Arlington's estate-style pockets and the Dalworthington Gardens area.
Dalworthington Gardens is technically its own municipality—not an Arlington neighborhood—so I wouldn't include it in a technically accurate Arlington Top 5.
But from a buyer's perspective, it absolutely belongs in the conversation if someone wants larger lots, custom homes, privacy and an estate-like environment while remaining surrounded by Arlington.
What Makes Arlington Different From Southlake or Colleyville?
This is where I think Arlington gets really interesting.
Southlake and Colleyville are known heavily for luxury residential living.
Arlington offers variety.
Within the same city, you can have:
Master-planned lifestyle → Viridian
Waterfront character → Interlochen
Traditional suburbia → Fannin Farm
Larger established properties → West Arlington
Nature and trails → North Arlington
And then you have Arlington's Entertainment District and the city's position between Dallas and Fort Worth.
That means two buyers can both say:
"I live in Arlington."
Yet their everyday lifestyles can look completely different.
There's One Big Advantage Arlington Has: Location
This is one of the biggest reasons I think Arlington deserves more attention from buyers relocating to DFW.
You're positioned between Dallas and Fort Worth, with access toward DFW Airport and major employment and entertainment corridors.
So someone who doesn't want to commit entirely to the Dallas side or Fort Worth side of the Metroplex may find Arlington particularly interesting.
And depending on where you live within Arlington, you can also be close to professional sports, entertainment, parks, lakes, trails and established commercial areas.
